Wilkinson Kindergarten Thanksgiving Feast!
After learning all about Thanksgiving traditions and customs our students will get to choose to dress up as a Native American or Pilgrim on that day (we will be making costumes in class as part of our Thanksgiving research) and enjoy a delicious thanksgiving feast. There will be a Sign up Genius sent out will a list of items we will need. Please make sure ALL food is cooked and prepared BEFORE it is brought to school. Parents are welcome to come help out, watch, and celebrate with us!
November 4th is the 50th Day of Kindergarten!!!!
We celebrate the number 50 all day long with fun and academic learning stations! Come dressed like it is the 1950s. We will have a sock hop and ice cream sundaes at the end of our day in the cafeteria! If you would like to volunteer please send a note or email me letting me know if you can help! The students will have so much fun on this day and I will post pictures of our fun activities!

Labeling
In Writer's Workshop we learned how LABELS can make our writing more interesting by adding details! We also practiced all week long stretching out or sounding out our words when we wrote labels.
Here is where we labeled our friend Bradley! He had a lot of fun :)
When your child writes at home, please encourage them to write all of the letter sounds they hear. As they get more confident in their letter ID and letter sound recognition they are really beginning to enjoy stretching out words . Keep up the great practice at home!

Early Numbers 0, 1, 2
We have been learning all about early numbers 0, 1, and 2 this week. Check out all the ways we can represent this number...
Talk to your child about the different ways to make these numbers. Also, practice counting to and past these numbers, and practice writing these numbers. We will be learning about numbers 3, 4, and 5 next week.

Patterns
We began learning about patterns last week. We started with AB patterns (ex: green, red, green, red, green, red...). This week we focused on ABC patterns (ex: dog, lion, flower, dog, lion, flower...). See the fun ways we practiced our ABC patterns below with fall leaves and today with fruit loop necklaces! Try having your child make patterns at home using household items.
Five Senses
Here is our 5 senses guy! We have been working on learning about our 5 senses (sight, hearing, tasting, smelling, and touching) all week long. Ask your child about the fun experiments we have done using our 5 senses.
